Permanent Residence

Quebec Programs

To immigrate to Quebec and obtain permanent Canadian residency, you must first obtain a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) from the Quebec Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration (MIFI). If you wish to settle permanently in Quebec, depending on your situation, two permanent immigration programs are available to you:

  • The Regular Skilled Worker Program

This program is for people whose training and professional skills meet the criteria sought by the province of Quebec. Each candidate must therefore declare his or her interest in immigrating to Quebec permanently to work.

  • The Quebec Experience Program

Quite popular in Quebec, the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ) is intended for students, foreign graduate students in Quebec or temporary foreign workers. This program allows people who meet all the conditions of the program to obtain a Quebec selection certificate in order to settle permanently in Quebec.

Federal Programs

You may be eligible for one of the following federal programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • The Federal Skilled Trades Program

These programs are for skilled workers, or workers in skilled trades. Workers who are in a position to become a permanent resident because of their ability to become economically established in Canada. And workers who intend to settle in a province other than Quebec.

  • The Canadian Experience Program

This program is a category of permanent residence for people who have acquired skilled work experience in Canada. It is designed for temporary foreign workers and foreign graduates with qualifying Canadian work experience.

  • The Provincial Nominee Program

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is designed to enable provinces and territories to support the immigration of individuals who have expressed a desire to settle in their province or territory. These individuals will be able to contribute to the economic development and prosperity of their province or territory, as well as Canada.

Express entry

Express Entry is an online system used by the Government of Canada to manage skilled worker applications for permanent residence.

sponsorship
